Rich Hall
On a mission to prove that not all Americans are devoid of irony, Rich Hall, the Emmy Award winning, comic genius, former hurricane namer, is heading to Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney.
Hall’s abrupt, cynical discourse and wild imagination create a verbal roller coaster ride. He will convert you to his wry and candidly warped view of the world. Resistance is useless. Oh and if you sit in the front row you may have a song composed about you!
Hall returns to Adelaide in the guise of his alter-ego Otis Lee Crenshaw, a singer-songwriter, jailbird and womaniser who performs Tom Waitsian tunes with the help of his band The Black Liars. Crenshaw is trailer trash from Tennessee who has been married to six women all called Brenda. After making his debut at The Melbourne Comedy Festival four years ago, Otis has gone on to International fame and to win Hall the coveted Oscars of comedy, The 2000 Perrier Award.
Hall will appear as Rich Hall in Brisbane and Sydney, a show he’s performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival several times, at all major comedy clubs around the world and to packed theatres across Britain. One of Rich’s favourite targets is Americans. George Bush is a man who calls people from Greece, Grecians. He thinks Celine Dion is an African country and he’s only been out of the US four times — mostly to Mexico!
David Letterman gave Hall his first break and the rest is history. Rich is well known in the States for his script writing and numerous appearances on The Letterman Show and Saturday Night Live. In the UK Rich has appeared on Have I got News for You, Never mind the Buzzcocks, Jack Dee’s Sunday Service and Edinburgh Nights.
