The production of The Voyage transforms Birmingham’s Victoria Square, taking the audience on an epic visual and aural journey over a series of six scenes that follow the adventures of a group of passengers who set sail upon an ocean liner to an unknown land.

In talking about the production, Patrick Nolan, Legs On The Wall’s Artistic Director and co-director of the production says, "The production turns the city centre into a massive film set, in which the audience becomes key players in the action. Starting out as the passengers on the docks, they set sail across the seas, get swept up in a huge storm, help rescue passengers washed overboard and finally become the welcoming party in the new land."

The central element of the set is an enormous ship, roughly 15 metres high, 45 metres long, and 6 metres wide, which serves as the main performance area for the aerialists and dancers. The projections by Spanish Basque company Logela Multimedia, utilise the latest in 3D video mapping technology, transforming the Town Hall into the various locations the ship journeys through.

To be invited to perform in Birmingham as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad — the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Movements — is a great honour and richly deserved. The Australian Government is very proud to sponsor the tour. Federal Arts Minister, Simon Crean
