Wild World — The Cat Stevens Story

Media Release: January 1, 2010 in Music, Theatre |

Wild WorldChristine Harris and HIT Productions, Australia’s Premier Theatre Touring Company Presents WILD WORLD — The Cat Stevens Story

At the height of his career in the mid-1970′s, Cat Stevens, discontent with the excesses of fame and fortune, turned his back on the music business. At the time, he had album sales of over 40 million and sold out stadiums across the globe. In Australia alone, one in two households owned a Cat Stevens album. So it’s not surprising that the question most often asked of Cat Stevens over these past thirty years is Why? Why did he disappear from the music scene?

Take a journey to discover the man behind the songs the world loves to sing along to as Paul Dillon guides us through the story of this enigmatic songwriter, from his humble beginnings in London to his eventual conversion to Islam and emergence as Yusuf Islam, performing 24 songs including:

  • Moonshadow
  • Peace Train
  • Morning has Broken
  • Where do the Children Play
  • So Very Young
  • Father and Son…
  • and many more

London-born Paul Dillon has had a lifelong love affair with the music and poetic lyrics of Cat Stevens, his resemblance to him, both physically and vocally, is remarkable, and he has played in many of the same venues where Cat’s extraordinary success story began, including London’s West End. Accompanied by his band, The Tillermen.

This is an event no music fan should miss. Hear the unforgettable songs. Share the emotion of his amazing story. As one critic put it, …the music and story captivate you for almost two hours. It seemed like ten minutes to me!
